Being good with sliders is important but in order to get better results, learning how to make your own custom skin textures to go with it makes a big diference.
And maybe with the right face mesh mods.

I sometimes use facemate to create a base face texture from a photo but it requires editing to make it look better.
You can just edit it in image editors like Photoshop, Paint sai, Paint.net etc
